"SELF" Chaos of Addiction
Location
Norwich
Project type
Self Portrait Series
Part of my SELF series, Chaos of Addiction explores the inner turmoil and fragmentation caused by my struggles with addiction. This project began with an introspective exercise—sitting in a room, staring into a mirror for half an hour, confronting my own reflection. I then plunged the room into darkness, set my camera to a long exposure, and used a remote flash trigger to capture the raw, chaotic movement of my body and emotions.
Photography allows me to communicate emotions that I often struggle to put into words. Through these images, I express the disorienting, fractured nature of addiction—the sense of losing oneself, the internal conflict, and the battle for control. The camera becomes my voice, translating emotions that would otherwise remain locked inside.
